Spot Remedies!

Everyone has their own spot remedies, and I have certainly tried a lot too. Sudocreme, Tea Tree Oil, Witch Hazel, Germaline and many more... but this one is by far the most effective for me.

You can use any brand I suppose, but a tea tree cream is supposed to be more effective than an oil because your skin can absorb it better. This Nelsons one I got in Boots and it costs £5.00. I adore the smell of Tea Tree products too. If I feel a spot coming on I dab some of this on, several times a day if I can. It honestly clears up any spots within a day or two (for me anyway!). I only wish I had discovered this in my teenage years!

Freshly Dyed Hair

I hate roots so much! And colour fade! This is six weeks after my previous dye.

This feels so good! My hair actually feels so much more conditioned and healthy! And the colour is just so vibrant!

I never dyed my hair until I was 20 years old. Naturally my hair is dark brown but I have always loved ginger hair. I don't know what made me do it because it was such a big change. That was four years ago, and now everyone knows me as being a red head! I honestly can't see myself going a different colour. I love this so much. The maintenance is hard, I am always careful to stay out of the sun because that would just zap the colour out (even more than it already does!). The thing I hate most of all is my roots showing! My hair just grows so fast, it's crazy!
Everyone asks me what colour I use. My hairdresser does it and I really do not know what shade it is. All I know is that it is as copper as you can go!

I'm sure most of you can appreciate the feel-good feeling of freshly dyed hair!

Mandara Spa Hand Cream

I saw that this hand cream was half price in Sansburys a while ago, I got it for £2.50 which I was happy with, plus I needed a new hand cream.
It definitely is very moisturising, and it is quite fragrant. It says on the back that it contains cocoa butter, kukui nut oil, sandalwood, patchouli and ylang ylang. Initially it smells very nice and pleasant, it reminds me of being in a luxury spa hotel or something! But after a while, and I am talking hours here, the smell still lingers and is a little overpowering. After a while the smell reminds me of Chanel Number 5 which is a perfume that I am not attracted too at all, it smells a little too "old lady" for me.

It is a nice hand cream though, despite the long-lingering scent! I would love to try some of the Mandara Spa body creams.

Cocoa Brown Tan!

I had heard about this tan many times, it has exploded onto the Irish market. There are no stockists near me, so I ordered from www.carterbeauty.ie. I cannot believe this tan is only €7.99! It is a real bargain!

I have never used a mousse tan in my life, so I wasn't sure how much to use initially! I was being rather over-cautious with it I think. When you pump just a small amount onto your mitt, it expands out so it is quite deceiving. Next time I am going to use a lot more than I did.

One thing I did notice about the application of this tan is that it feels very "dry", which is a good thing I guess. No sticky feeling! But when applying, you can feel your mitt start to drag and when that happens, I would recommend another small pump. My tan turned out a little lighter than I would have liked, but that was because I tried to spread each pump over as much of my skin as I possibly could. Also when I use lotion tan, I like to use the excess on the mitt to put a little on my face, but with this tan there was no excess! (Again that is possibly because I did not use enough). I guess it's all about trial and error when you try out new products.

This was after the three hours, which I believe is when the tan is fully developed. You can shower off the excess after one hour if that's what you like, but I decided to leave it. It is probably the most natural looking tan I have ever used. Not a hint of orange in sight! Just a healthy looking, natural glow. Next time I am not going to be afraid and stick plenty on!

Urban Decay Glinda Palette Series - last one!

Finally I thought I would follow this "get the look" insert which came with the Glinda palette. I had so much fun experimenting with all the shades, that I just never got around to doing their look!

The instructions are easy enough to follow, but to be truthful I wouldn't use these shades or apply them in this order. This is the finished result :

To be honest, I don't like how this looks at all. No shimmer? No glitter? This just looks very boring to me, and very dull! When I think of Glinda the Good Witch I am thinking of pinks, silver, glitter etc. This is just so plain and not what I personally would have included as a "get the look".

Essence Superfine Eyeliner Pen

So I got this as part of my Essence haul. I cannot remember the price but I think it was around £2.50. I only use my Clinique gel liner at the moment, and I am rubbish at trying to apply liquid liner. I liked the felt tip pen style of this liner, so thought I should give it a go.

It was actually very easy to apply! I was pleasantly surprised. The thicker style tip was much easier to use than a regular liquid liner. It was really easy to do a cat eye flick too.

The only thing I do not like about this liner is that it is extremely hard to wash off! Even if you think you have removed it all, there is still a faint mark from where you had lined.

Sleek Palette - Oh So Special

I am a big fan of the Sleek palettes! I have three of them, and this one is by far my favourite.

I guess it's predictable me, but these shades are right up my street. I love pinks and champagne colours, so I have gotten so much use out of this palette. Here is a quick look using these four shades:

Unfortunately I do not have the shade names anymore, the Sleek palettes just have a plastic insert with the shade names on and I have thrown it away a long time ago.

The shimmery shades are my favourite, they sparkle real nice in the sunlight! Sleek palettes cost £7.99 each, this is incredible value and the shadows are of amazing quality. Since discovering Sleek I find it so difficult to buy high end products now! I just can't justify it when I know that Sleek have amazing quality products for a fraction of the price. The shades are very pigmented and blendable.

If you haven't tried Sleek yet I highly recommend them, especially their eyeshadow palettes!

Urban Decay Glinda Palette Series - Continued

So here is a more subtle look I tried using the Glinda palette. Now I love shimmer shadows and glitter but I know they are not always suitable to wear every day. I love what this palette can do, it is super shiny and iridescent. There is only really one (sort of) matte shade and that is "Illusion", the peachy colour.

I used "Illusion" all over the lid, with the pink in the crease, and the taupe colour in my outer corners. I also used "Aura", the very lightest duo shade to highlight. I also used the 24/7 Pencil to line my top and bottom lash lines.

It's still pretty bright and shimmery, but not as "in your face" as the other looks I have tried. It's not perfect though, and I will probably not use this palette for everyday make up. I want to show off what it can do, and that is the bright and bold, and glamorous looks! But it's still pretty nice.

Essence 2-in-1 Volume Mascara

I picked up a few Essence pieces when I was in my local chemist...they don't really have a huge selection of products but they did have a few things which I had not seen before. So of course I had to get them to try - it's not as if they would break the bank! I think I will so a mini series of Essence reviews then, so as I can review each product individually.

This mascara was actually the most expensive of everything that I bought, it was £3.50!

This is the "Look 1" wand. The actual wand is very thin and flimsy so I am actually scared removing this one from the tube incase it breaks! The brush is surprisingly full looking though.

"Look 2" has a slightly fatter brush, but there isn't really that much difference in appearance between the two. I tried to take a photo of the wands side by side, but you can't remove the two wands at once. So lets see how they differ when you apply the mascara!

This is me with nothing on my eyes at all.

This is "Look 1". Wow! I love this one so much! It gives a very defined appearance and it has lengthened my lashes so much! It looks very natural and doesn't really look like I am wearing mascara at all!

This is "Look 2". I do not really like this. My lashes look thick and really clumpy. I hate this kind of a look! Perhaps it would different if the rest of my eyes were made up, this might be nice as a finishing touch for a dramatic eye make up, but as it is I am not really fussed on it.

I think this is a really nice product, it's nice to have a bit of a choice in your mascaras. It's amazing how different the two look on your lashes. I much prefer Look 1 and I will definitely be wearing it more often!

Urban Decay Glinda Palette Series

So I was playing around some more with my new Urban Decay Palette. I adore this so much. The shades are so pretty and shimmery, and really I have never seen anything like them before. I think perhaps I have fallen in love with Urban Decay!

I ended up using every single shade in the palette for this look. I concentrated more on the pewter shade and silver all over the lid, which is something I would never usually wear but I absolutely love how this looks on me.

I am going to try to do a more subtle look for everyday wear. I hope you don't mind reading more of this palette series, but I really am enjoying this palette so much and I cannot wait to try out more looks with this!

Essence Colour and Go Polishes - LOL & Off to Miami

I love these two colours together! And I think they would look amazing individually too. Perfect for Spring and Summer!

BABY B BROWNE Tan review!

A while ago I showed you my favourite tan which is Baby B Browne. I am so ready for spring, that lastnight I couldn't help tanning myself and getting rid of some of my winter clothes! I really think I look much healthier with tan on too. Anyway, here are some before and after photos!

Firstly I am so sorry you have to see my Irish corned beef complexion! The left leg is obviously no tan at all, and my right leg was just after applying the tan. So obviously it hadn't fully developed but I still think even at this stage it makes such a difference.

Now this photo was taken this morning. I absolutely love the natural look of this tan. It smells absolutely amazing, this morning there is a little hint of that typical tan smell, but the formula itself is a lovely vanilla scent!

This tan is about £15.00 a bottle, very reasonable and I would say very comparable to something like St Tropez which I have tried before, however I think that the longevity is much better, I can get a full week out of this tan without it going patchy.

I have just ordered some Cocoa Brown tan, I have heard so much about it and I can't wait to review it when it comes!

What's in my bag?

I thought I may as well do a What's in my Bag post - though there's nothing really very exciting in there - ha!

I just got this satchel bag on eBay this week, I love it!
So as you can see, I carry my essentials - purse, keys, phone ... and I also have my reading glasses (that I never wear!), painkillers, nail file, hand cream, mints, hairbrush, powder, perfume, two lipglosses and a lip balm!

The hand cream is a lovely Mandara Spa one that I got in Sainsbury's recently (which I may do a review on next). The lip products are all by Essence, a brand that I adore. I don't know why I carry all three around with me, haha! And of course I take my Sleek Luminous powder too.

The perfume is the Beyonce Heat Rush which I did a short review on a couple of posts back, I love it and it reminds me so much of spring, it smells so fresh.

I need to get a better hairbrush. I just carry this little one around with me for emergencies, because my hair is so long and thick it can get quite tatty especially if I am wearing a scarf or a hood, it knots up around my neck.

And that's all really! Nothing very exciting I know! But that is everything that I carry in my bag :)
