The Yankee Candle Appreciation Post

I'm sure I'm not the only one who can't walk past the Yankee Candle shop without having a little wander in and smelling all of the candles! A few years ago, I wouldn't really bother with scented candles or anything like that, but recently it just seems that I can't get enough of Yankee Candle.

The above photo shows some candles I got recently in a little set of spring/summer scents. I love these sampler sizes, each one burns for up to 15 hours and it's a good way to try new fragrances.

My all time favourite Yankee Candle is Vanilla Lime. I seriously cannot get enough of it. The smell is good enough to eat, really! Sadly my last Vanilla Lime candle recently burned out but I do have this room spray which I really like. I like to give each room a spritz of this, and I even spray it in my car.

When my big jars burn out I like to clean them out and use them to store things in. I keep these two jars in my bathroom to store my cotton pads and cotton buds!

What's your favourite Yankee Candle?

*new* YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush - review

Lately I have been kind of obsessed with cream blushes. I don't know why, I just love how they apply as opposed to powder blushes. Plus they are so easy to use while on the go!

This is the new offering from YSL - Baby Doll Kiss & Blush - a multi use product which is designed for use on the lips and cheeks. I was so excited to try these out - however, because I am quite prone to coldsores I would be reluctant to use this on both my lips and face.

The bottle is just a little taller than a standard nail polish bottle. The applicator looks like a doe foot applicator but you can see there is a "bead" in the centre, designed for comfortable use on both the lips and cheeks, and also disperses the perfect amount of product. It's really soft and flexible to use too.

On to the product. This is the shade 10 Nude Insolent. YSL describe the formula as "air whipped" and I agree. It is very soft and creamy, and feels very velvety. It has a lovely matte finish and when blended on your cheeks it feels so smooth and powdery.

I like to dab three little dots on the apples of my cheeks and pat it in. There is so much pigmentation but it blends out very nicely. I absolutely adore the finish of it, you could wear this every single day. Sometimes I dust a little of my Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick over it if I fancy a little bit more "glow".

This is how it looks when worn as a blush. I have tested it on my lips too (not using the applicator) and while it does feel very nice on, it looks just a little too matte for me. It feels incredibly soft and not drying at all, but still I prefer a glossy finish on my lips. I do love this shade "Nude Insolent" on my cheeks, but not on my lips! There are 12 shades available in these and there are lovely orange and pink shades which might look better on lips.

What I really love about this product is the packaging. It looks so adorable and is so convenient to use - also I think this would be a great blush to travel with if you were going on holiday. The formula absolutely surprised me. I love the soft velvety texture, it feels so luxurious.

Let me know what you think of this product!

ESCADA - Born in Paradise EDT - Review

I have lusted after this perfume for weeks and weeks now - finally I treated myself to it last week while I was out shopping. I had gotten into the habit of spraying myself liberally with it each time I saw it in Debenhams. The scent is AMAZING! This is actually the scent of summer. All the Escada perfumes actually are so beautifully light and fresh and fruity, perfect for summer, but Born in Paradise is really something else!

Even the bottle looks summery. I love the colour of it and the bird on the reverse of the bottle. As you can probably tell from the packaging, this perfume is full on fruity - watermelon, apple, coconut and pineapple. I cannot even express how delightful this smells, it just smells like the most wonderful refreshing cocktail you could ever imagine.

I got these lovely flip flops as a free gift also when I bought the perfume. Now don't you think I am all set for summer? My only complaint is that this perfume only comes in eau de toilette, and as such the smell fades rather quickly.

Definitely check this perfume out if you can! It is, without a doubt, the most beautiful and tropical fragrance I have tried in recent times.

Sadly I am back to work today after the Easter holidays but with a couple of sprays of this, I could easily be on a beach somewhere sipping a Pina Colada!

Happy Easter! (and Face of the Day)

Happy Easter everyone! Hope you haven't ate too much chocolate! I love Easter, it's one of my favourite times of year. I just love the springtime.

I didn't really do much today, I went out for a big meal - overindulged actually and I am still very full up! But it was so nice! I thought I might show you what make up I wore today, here are the products I used:

The eyeshadows I used from my Mac palette are my new favourites - Satin Taupe and Smut in the crease. I love this eye look. And I used my very first Revlon lip butter that I just got, in the colour Juicy Papaya and I adore it! It's so nice and sheer, yet creamy and very moisturising.

Right now I am just cracking open my first easter egg and watching the Sound of Music! Hope you all had a great easter!

Clarins HydraQuench Tinted Moisturizer Review

At Christmas, I bought some Clarins things and the lady at the counter gave me a few samples to try. One of them was a tiny tube of this, HydraQuench tinted moisturiser. Tinted moisturisers are really not my thing. I just don't associate them with giving me an even complexion or hiding any flaws, so I have always stayed away. But after giving this one a go, I absolutely fell in love so went out and bought the full sized version!

The moisturiser comes in 6 shades. I went with shade number 4 Blond, because I honestly felt it was best for me especially when I am tanned.

This moisturiser is so thick and luxurious. It's so creamy and it blends beautifully into your skin. I like to apply it using my fingertips. Amazingly, it's not sticky or tacky once on your skin but it has a powder finish. Immediately my skin feels silky smooth and call me crazy, but I do think it provides some coverage too!

It has a beautiful scent too, and it stays all day which I think is just amazing. I am trying not to use this too much right now, I want to bring it with me on my holidays in July! I have a feeling this will be perfect to use in hot weather. It gives your skin an amazing glow and finish, and I am not in the slightest paranoid about being "bare faced", I feel like I have got make up on! In my opinion, it's unlike any other tinted moisturiser and I already feel that this will be a summer staple for me!

Home Waxing - Is it for me?

Shaving my legs is the bane of my life. I never get more than just a day or two's smoothness. I do love getting my legs wax but the hassle of booking appointments and going to the beauty salon on a regular basis doesn't appeal to me. I bought the Veet wax strips recently, you know the ones which you rub between your hands. It hurt like absolute hell, and the strips were a little too big and awkward to use around your ankles etc. But I was delighted with the outcome. My legs were silky smooth for a good three weeks.

So I noticed this Veet Oriental Wax was half price in Superdrug. I thought if I was able to heat up the wax and use regular wax strips, I might get an even better result than before. I was actually excited to try this out. I heated the jar in the microwave as directed. The wax was still hard and lumpy in parts so I had to heat it a little bit more.

It was really nice to apply on your skin, but it makes an absolute mess! No matter how careful I was, I ended up with sticky wax absolutely everywhere. Also, I had not even finished waxing the first leg when I had finished all of the wax strips that come in this kit. I don't know how Veet expect you to wax both your legs using that small amount of strips? Perhaps if I was more experienced at this, I might have been able to. Luckily, I bought a packet of Superdrug's own wax strips so I was able to do the other leg.

I was just getting started on my other leg when the wax in the pot was starting to turn really hard and lumpy! Cue me getting dressed and running to the microwave again.

Honestly, the hot sticky mess and inconvenience of the wax pot is totally not worth it. I thought it would be really handy to wax at home, but if I had paid full price for the wax pot (RRP £10) together with the extra wax strips I bought, that would be the same money you would spend in the salon.

Pain wise, the wax pot was much nicer to use than the cold wax strips, but it was just too messy for me!

Do you prefer to wax at home or go to the salon?

Spring is here! :) :) My Spring favourites

Yay! First outdoor pic of the year! :)

There's just something about Spring that I love. There is a freshness in the air and without even realising it, I find that my taste in make up suddenly changes. I am drawn to bright colours, lightweight bases, and yet things that are long wearing.

I don't know where I would be without my Cocoa Brown tan. I apply it once a week, perhaps now the better weather is coming in it will be more. But I have also been using it with the new (and amazing) Gentle Bronze. I will apply my Cocoa Brown as normal and throughout the week I will use Gentle Bronze to top up my colour. Gentle Bronze is such a beautiful, lightweight moisturiser. It gives a beautiful colour and it doesn't feel sticky when you apply it which I love! (I suddenly have flashbacks of years ago as a teen when I didn't want to wear tan but I used to apply liberal amounts of Johnsons Holiday Skin *shudder*)

I got a little sample of Clarins Hydraquench Tinted Moisturiser. I loved it so much I went out and bought the full size. I shall definitely be using this all over the summer! I wouldn't normally go for a tinted moisturiser because I just love foundations so much, but this one is different (a full review is coming soon!)

Of course my beloved Chanel Soleil de Tan makes an appearance. It's my favourite bronzer ever, it's just so nice to apply. I can't fault this product in any way. The finish of it is lovely, and sometimes I even wear it alone.

I dug out my Clarins Splendours eye palette which I got last summer. I think it's lovely to wear nice soft gold eye make ups during Spring/Summer! This palette has the most gorgeous colours and is perfect for me. Sadly it was limited edition but Clarins' new summer palette looks equally as gorgeous.

I have been obsessed with my Tanya Burr lip gloss and nail polish! The colours are so fun and bright, and perfect for Spring and Summer. My favourites are the gloss in Exotic Island and the nail polish is Bright and Early.

And of course, you'll need a nice fresh perfume! My favourite is the Escada Cherry in the Air, I absolutely can't get enough of it! All the Escada perfumes actually just smell like Summer in a bottle!

What are your favourite Springtime products?

Urban Decay NAKED Combination - part 3

Hello and a happy Wednesday to you! I am back again with another post showing a look created using Urban Decay Naked. I honestly can't stress enough, this is the best eyeshadow palette I have ever owned! It's so versatile!

I got the idea from this look from macshadowcombos on Youtube in her February favourites video (watch here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-8OZUWDzto&list=UUwQ48S6LdJVdGUM27M0oy4w)

So, to achieve this look, you are using Sin on the inner half of the eyelid, Smog on the outer half, and Half Baked in the crease. Half Baked is such a shimmery gold shade, I wasn't sure if I could make it work or not but I think it looks fantastic! I usually go for more darker shades for the crease.

What do you think of this look? I love how all the shades come together to create this beautiful, bronzey look. I think it makes my eyes look really blue as well! I think this would probably work best as more of an evening look, perhaps with your favourite bold lipstick!

I hope you all are well and enjoy the rest of the week!

Cocoa Brown Lovely Legs Spray

Here we go! I am super super excited about Cocoa Brown's latest releases. The first of the new products which I tried was this, the Lovely Legs spray! I was curious, having never tried anything like it before. I assume the concept is similar to your Sally Hensen, Sun Shimmer etc.

It is instructed that you spray onto a tanning mitt, and buff into your legs. I sprayed it and was a little alarmed at how dark it looked! The colour of this spray on tan is a bit different to my beloved Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan, I believe it to have more "bronze" tones. This is how it looked sprayed onto the mitt:

And so, I began to buff it into my legs as directed. It is so easy to do this, even a novice like me got it right first time. It applied really evenly and I wasn't left with any streaks or any patches I missed.  I think you need to see a comparison photo to get the idea:

This stuff made my legs look absolutely flawless. Not only do you achieve a great colour, but I actually think it hides any imperfections too. Is that just me?!
This tanning spray is also water resistant. So no need to fear if you accidentally get caught in the rain on a night out! Actually, it took a good bit of scrubbing in the shower to remove it completely, so it definitely passes the test for staying power! It didn't transfer onto my clothes either, though I suppose you would need to be careful if you were wearing something very light in colour.

Another fantastic product from Cocoa Brown. With the Summer on the way, we all need to have our legs looking fabulous!

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick - "Apricot"

Highlighters are not a staple part of my make up routine. However, while recently browsing in Arnotts, I walked past this and actually backtracked to get a closer look. Those colours, wow! I couldn't get enough of this! The lovely sales lady at Bobbi Brown (her name was Jen) let me see how this looked on, and showed me how best to use it. I was absolutely sold. They are not cheap at €42 a go, but I know this will last me years!

These colours are just ideal to me! This shimmer brick "Apricot" is from the new Nectar and Nude collection. I love it.
 The individual shades
and blended together

I think it is the nicest flush of peach/gold, it's shimmery without being a total glitterball. I have also used the lighter colours to highlight the inner corners of my eyes. I guess you could use the whole palette as shimmery eyeshadows, but I have not tried it myself.

This is my first foray into the world of Bobbi Brown. This is definitely a luxury brand. The packaging of the shimmer brick is so sturdy, it is quite large too with a decent sized mirror in the compact. I would be afraid to travel with this incase something happened to it!

I really love how this looks on me and has totally changed my opinion with regards to highlighting products. The other shades in the shimmer bricks look absolutely amazing too, but I really love peaches  and corals, so for me it was love at first sight with "Apricot"!
