Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour - "Mirabella"

Everyone loves an orange polish, right? I know I certainly do, and have amassed quite a collection of them! When I saw "Mirabella" at the Chanel counter i knew that I couldn't leave without it!
This is the first ever Chanel polish that I own. They are, in my opinion, incredibly expensive. The outer packaging is stunning though. Does the product hold it's own?
First thing's first - it has a long, skinny brush. I hate them!! I cannot apply nail polish properly with long skinny brushes. I end up with streaks and then a huge blob of nail polish will just travel down that brush and onto my nail after I've applied it half decently :(
The actually formula of the nail polish is very nice and glossy. It's the perfect consistency and has great colour payoff. I always apply 2 coats of polish just to be on the safe side, though.

My nails aren't in the greatest condition at the moment - I had a gel manicure for going on holidays and my nails don't take too kindly to getting them removed! So I found it hard to get the nail polish to "look" smooth. I have no doubt that this polish will look phenomenal on, when my nails are back to normal.
The colour is just stunning. As I said, I have a few orange polishes already but not one like this. It is a really bright, true orange! Just what I love!

Isn't orange the perfect colour for a summer manicure?

My top picks of Summer 2014 (so far!)

Here we are in the midst of summer, and what a glorious one it is too! I am just back from a wonderful holiday in Disneyland Paris and as I write this, I am in my back garden enjoying every minute of this beautiful weather.

It has been a great summer for some new make up too. I am particularly fond of the Clarins Colours of Brazil collection but I have tried out loads of new things this summer. Here is a small collection of what I have been wearing the most!

1. Skechers Flex Appeal Memory Foam - Not a make up item I know, but I bought these for going on holiday and I have been wearing them every day since! They are extremely comfortable, with a memory foam insole! It is quite literally like walking on air. I love these!

2. La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50 - I have been using this quite liberally, and despite the intense mid-30 degree heat in Paris and our beautiful weather here, it has not let me down so I would say this is  definitely one of my top picks for summer!

3. Escada Born in Paradise Perfume - This scent is just summer in a bottle for me! It is so fruity and tropical. I have been spraying this every single day and it has fast become my favourite perfume for summer. My only problem is, it is only available in eau de toilette so the beautiful scent does fade very quickly! :( But this perfume will forever remind me of this summer!

4. Clarins Lip Balm Crayon - These are the best things I have ever put near my lips! This shade is "Sweet Cherry", a beautiful but not too striking colour, which is very suitable for everyday wear. They feel so creamy and smell delicious! I recently tried a Clinique Chubby Stick for the first time and I can honestly say the Clarins Lip Balm Crayons are 100 times better! Please Clarins make these part of your permanent line!!

5. Clarins Colours of Brazil Eyeshadow Palette - I am still very fond of this palette and I wear it a lot! My favourite shades are the two brown shades, and I like to blend out with a little of the orange colour. The blue liner is really something! I never thought I would get much use out of the liner but it turns out I was wrong! I always line my lower lashes with it now, and it looks beautiful and lovely contrast with it and the orange eyeshadow!

6. Lancome City Miracle CC Cream - This is what I have been wearing on my face every day since I got it. It has such beautiful consistency and applies beautifully. It has that lovely elegant Lancome scent too (which I love) and of course has been providing some much required protection to my face with the SPF 50. I wish I had got it in the lighter shade though, as I constantly have to wear fake tan to make sure this matches my skin!

I would love to know what your top picks are for summer! And I hope you are all enjoying the nice weather! :)

Chanel - Illusion d'Ombre - "New Moon"

I have been obsessed with this ever since I got it! I spotted it in duty free before my holiday (at 4.30am…) and I knew i couldn't leave without it. I tested nearly all the Illusion d'Ombre eyeshadows but "New Moon" stole my heart the moment I laid eyes on it!

The colour is just phenomenal. How can I even describe it! It's like a purpley cranberry, and wow, that shimmer! I cannot get over how sparkly it is. I could look at it all day!

I used to be quite fond of cream eyeshadows, particularly the Benefit Creaseless Cream eyeshadows. But New Moon is not like them in any way. In the pot, it has a mousse / spongey texture. There is a tiny little brush supplied but I prefer to pick it up on my fingertip and tap it onto my eyelid.

I wore this every single day on my holiday and loved it. I wore it on it's own, no primer, and it held up throughout a good portion of the day, despite the intense hot weather. In the evening time I would notice it creasing ever so slightly, but by that time of the night I didn't really care!

Now that I'm back home, I've been trying different ways to use it. I still like to wear it alone with just a flick of eyeliner and mascara, but now I do put a bit of primer underneath (my trusty ArtDeco eyeshadow base) just to give it a bit more intensity and longevity.

But after playing around with it a bit, I think I have found my favourite way to wear it. It requires the help of my old faithful Naked palette!

I used the shade "Toasted" all over the lid, and "Hustle" in the crease. Then with my ring finger I tapped a bit of "New Moon" over it to give it that lovely shimmer. I love how this looks!

Have a great day everyone!

Duty Free & Paris Purchases (and post holiday blues)

Some of you may already know that I took a trip to Disneyland Paris for my holidays this year. I just arrived back early yesterday and I can safely say the holiday blues are well and truly here :( I had such an amazing time, better than I expected! What I wouldn't give to be back in Disney again.

We spent most of our days in the Disney parks and one day we took to see some of the big tourist attractions in Paris.

Naturally, if there is anything of the cosmetic nature available to purchase, i will be all over it! I bought a couple of items in duty free and visited the Val d'Europe outlet centre for a bit of shopping too.

These two Chanel beauties I bought in duty free before i had even left Ireland! I had been lusting after both of these after seeing loads of swatches and reviews online. I have not yet tried the Mirabella nail polish yet because I got a gel manicure for holidays, which I am now dying to have removed!

The eyeshadow is the Illusion d'Ombre in "New Moon". I used this every day on holidays. It is like a pinky, purpley, cranberry shade with intense shimmer. It's absolutely beautiful, so sparkly! Swatches will be coming soon. I'd like to give it it's own review.

I popped into L'Occitane as well, having never tried anything from this brand I was a little overwhelmed! They had so much to choose from but I played it safe with a body cream and hand cream. I adore both of these, they smell amazing (especially the lime body cream). I think they are beautifully packaged too and they look lovely on my dressing table.

This is another duty free purchase, I couldn't leave without it! It cost €39 which is a total bargain in my opinion. I am a little obsessed with Clarins skincare, and this set features some of my favourites as well as a few bits I've never tried before. They are really decent sized products too. The only full sized product I believe is the Daily Energiser Cream, although I have never seen this packaged in a tube before, but it is 50ml of product, the same size as the jar.

And now I can't resist showing you these gorgeous little hats I picked up in Disneyland (reduced to €3 each!). I think they are so cute and currently I am trying to find a place to display them.

And now, here are a few snaps from my holiday. I really had the most wonderful time. There is nothing like that magical feeling of being in Disneyland. No matter what age you are! Seeing that castle is just something else. I went on as many rides as I could (even the big ones) and saw the parades and night show, and I loved going into Paris too.

Best holiday ever :)

Lancome Golden Riviera Bronzer - Summer 2014 Collection

Three Lancome posts in a row - I am sorry folks! It really wasn't intentional, I have been trying a few new bits from Lancome lately though. It is one of my favourite brands! And just yesterday I treated myself to the new bronzer from their Golden Summer collection. I couldn't resist, it is absolutely beautiful and really caught my attention. Normally I would try out a product for a while before blogging about it, but this one is so gorgeous I was dying to post about it anyway!

The compact is absolutely huge with a massive 30g of product in there. It feels extremely sturdy and I think looks so elegant and glamorous. Open it up and it absolutely takes your breath away! Gorgeous bronzer with a touch of gold overspray in the middle.

The bronzer is the most heavenly shade. It is very warm toned, with just a subtle gold shimmer throughout. I was well aware that the gold overspray was going to disappear with just a swipe of a brush, try as I might to avoid it, I had to swirl my brush in the compact to get enough product for my face! Below is how my bronzer looks now. Admittedly, it is probably more wearable now although there still is a hint of that gold shimmer.

I absolutely loved wearing this today! It really isn't a "glitter ball" effect but provides a lovely highlight as well as that bronzed glow. I just kind of dusted this all over my face, neck & chest. Lancome has never let me down, and I certainly was not disappointed with this bronzer! In fact the entire Golden Summer collection is astounding, beautiful golds and blues. I am so excited to use this bronzer, it is so perfect for summer!

*new* Lancome City Miracle CC Cream SPF 50 - Review

When I first read that Lancome were bringing out this CC Cream, I ordered it straight away. I had been caught in two minds as to what I was going to wear on my face whilst on holiday, so when I realised that Lancome City CC Cream was everything I wanted in one simple little product, I was all over it!

Lancome say: Perfects like a foundation, beautifies like an illuminator, hydrates like skincare, protects with anti-UV filters

City Miracle CC Cream is available in 3 shades - I chose shade 02 Peau de Peche because I plan on wearing this with a bit of fake tan. I must admit that when it arrived it was a little bit darker than I anticipated! Though it blends out really well and is a perfect match for my fake tan.

It's a nice, lightweight texture although it's not runny or "liquidy" in any way. It has the most gorgeous scent - some will love a scented base product, some will hate it. I for one think it is beautiful and so luxurious.
I find that you have to work incredibly quickly with this product as it begins to dry and set so fast. I like to apply it to my face, section by section, or else I can feel it dragging on my skin.
Once it's applied, my skin looks absolutely flawless. It gives me a decent amount of coverage, more than I would have expected from a CC Cream. Of course, what attracted me to this product was the SPF 50, so that I can still wear makeup while having a bit of sun protection thrown in there too, perfect for my holidays.
It does prevent shine on me for a good few hours, but as with all products like this, I still can't escape the pesky shine so I would still need to use a powder or blotting paper during the day.

Definitely a brilliant product in my opinion. I have really been enjoying using it - I love that it looks as beautiful as any foundation I have used yet has that added protection of SPF 50. I think it's perfect if you are on holiday and don't want to take a rake of products with you, or you just have a busy lifestyle and want a fuss free, yet kind to skin product. Admittedly there probably are cheaper versions of this available but with Lancome I always feel like I am getting a little bit of luxury and I love that!
